In 2017, the mild spring in Sonoma was followed by a warm summer and cool, slow harvest. Especially cool in the windswept hills of Sonoma’s Carneros where this single vineyard is located, these Pinot Noir grapes reached a strong, full expression. Well-structured and highly aromatic, this eloquent expression of time and place displays signature flavors of raspberry and Bing cherry and French oak-derived notes of vanilla bean and spice.

Only 100 cases produced, this is a 100% single vineyard Pinot Noir aged for 18 months on 30% new French Oak.

Reata comes from the Spanish word for lariat and lasso. The lasso honors our winery’s ranching tradition and our winemaking philosophy. Just as lassos are threads woven together, our Reata wines are sourced from exceptional vineyards in California’s most celebrated growing regions and woven together by our award-winning winemaker. Reata focuses on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in the cooler-climate, coastal regions of California, which are ideally suited to these Burgundian varietals.

Ratings
"A singular perfume of ruby red grapefruit peel, crushed red berries, dried roses, black cherries, fragrant earth, amaro and a classy framing of sweet spice. Medium-bodied, it unfolds slowly in the mouth offering layer after layer of fruit, spices, bitters and flowers. It has a firm, grainy frame and seamlessly woven freshness, finishing very long. This is gorgeous! It merits another year or two in bottle but is approachable now." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Food Pairing Notes
This easy-to-love Pinot Noir pairs well with so many dishes! Particularly delightful with a delicate, poached salmon or duck breast with pomegranate citrus glaze.
