From a single vineyard in the San Benito AVA, this Pinot Noir derives its character from the cool breezes that funnel in from the Pacific Ocean.
The 2016 growing season in the San Benito AVA started with an early bud break, which led to a long growing season allowing this Pinot Noir to reach its fullest expression. Little rainfall, warm spring tempeatures and mild tempatures at the end of summer led to an exciting and successful Harvest.
While vintage expresions vary, this vineyard produced a Pinot Noir that exhibits an expansive mouthfeel with structured acidity. Bold and exquisitely balanced, notes of sweet spices lend earthiness to bright fruit flavors of cherry and red plum. The work of our Winemaker ensures a long, lingering finish.
Only 150 cases produced, this is a 100% single vineyard Pinot Noir aged for 18 months on 40% new French Oak.
Reata comes from the Spanish word for lariat and lasso. The lasso honors our winery’s ranching tradition and our winemaking philosophy. Just as lassos are threads woven together, our Reata wines are sourced from exceptional vineyards in California’s most celebrated growing regions and woven together by our award-winning winemaker. Reata focuses on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in the cooler-climate, coastal regions of California, which are ideally suited to these Burgundian varietals.
