The 2016 vintage is celebrated within Napa Valley and beyond for the exceptional quality of fruit. Rain in the early part of the year helped the vines recover from years of draught. The even growing season including cooler than usual weather during July and August allowed for a longer hang time and the development of spectacular flavors. While yields were smaller, the intensely concentrated fruit has made the 2016 vintage legendary.
Aged 18 months on 40% new French Oak, this is 100% Petite Sirah from Napa Valley. Rich in color, velvety and intensely smooth from start to finish, the flavors of dark raspberries and currants play with the earthy undertones of black pepper and anise. Notes of toasted oak, vanilla, and well-integrated fruits lead to a complete, full finish.
Robert Parker 91 points, "Deep purple-black colored, the 2016 Petite Sirah Versada is scented of baked plums, blackberry pie and blueberry compote with aniseed, tilled soil and chargrill notions plus a waft of bay leaves. The palate is full, plush, rich and spicy with plenty of layers and expression." 1/19
