The cooling influence from the nearby Pacific Ocean allows these grapes to ripen slowly, which is especially important for fine Pinot Noir. Further, in 2017, the mild spring in Sonoma was followed by a warm summer and cool, slow harvest. As a result, this vintage showcases the true elegance of the grapes that this vineyard produces. Dark ruby in color, this soft, rich and complex wine displays flavors of red cherry, fresh raspberry and blackberry that mingle with vanilla bean and gingerbread spice. Bright acidity leads to a long, full finish.

Only 90 cases produced, this is a 100% single vineyard Pinot Noir aged for 16 months on 50% new French Oak.

Reata comes from the Spanish word for lariat and lasso. The lasso honors our winery’s ranching tradition and our winemaking philosophy. Just as lassos are threads woven together, our Reata wines are sourced from exceptional vineyards in California’s most celebrated growing regions and woven together by our award-winning winemaker. Reata focuses on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown in the cooler-climate, coastal regions of California, which are ideally suited to these Burgundian varietals.

Food Pairing Notes
This wine is versatile and food friendly. The soft tannins and bright acidity make it an easy pairing with seafood and lightly smoked meats and chicken. Cheeses including gruyere, gouda and aged cheddar are also lovely. This wine is especially enjoyable during the holidays alongside cranberry sauce and other dishes featuring fruit-enriched sauces.
