This wine is from a small vineyard in Sonoma’s Los Carneros AVA, a cool appellation where Pinot Noir grapes are able to reach their fullest expression of the varietal. A garnet colored Pinot Noir with rich flavors of Bing cherry, with hints of mocha, espresso and a light earthiness. Dried rose petals add a light floral note. The mid-palate is full-bodied and luscious with an extended finish form toasty oak, smoky and caramelized. Soft tannin structure with a smooth integration through each sip.
The name Reata comes from the Spanish word for “lariat.” Handbraided and buried in earth to cure, each rope—like our wine— is individual to its maker, and to the land it was born out of.
